Condomania

What a laugh!
While walking around Harajuku, my friend pointed out to this huge pink sign that says "Condomania", saying its the famous "Condomania". Not being a local, and being the slow on the pickup, I thought, "What's so special about condos?" I immediately asked my friend where these "condos" were located. Before she could utter a reply, it hit me, its a condom shop. HAHAHA.
My friend suggested we go take a look, but I was a bit worried, not for myself, but for my friend. I have this impression that in Asia is not appropriate for a woman to walk in into condom shop, specially with a guy. Dunno where I got that impression from but, she said it was ok.

Its a very small shop with glittering condom packages with all sorts of novelty features. Inside I saw a couple of people, guys and girls alike, so I knew my initial concern was unfounded.

The condoms I found in there ranged from good laughs to serious duty. From a foreigner that can't speak a word in Japanese, some of the boxes are "misleading". Some of them look like Pocky snack boxes, specially the fruit flavored ones, like the strawberry. It look like strawberry Pocky box.

My friend is into "cute" stuff, so she chose a couple of boxes for me. Probably will never use these, because no self respecting men would wear a condom with little teddy bears, and Hello Kitty type stuff. Maybe in Japan, but definitely not in the "West". She explained that one even glows in the dark. LOL! I guess Ill give as souvenirs to some "lovebirds" when I go back home.

Today was very fun, kinda got to see the general Tokyo culture. I'm sure its stereotypical, and I don't mean to offend any other people from Tokyo, I walked around checking "shops" and trying little cafés scattered around. I guess to a segment of people in Tokyo, that is the day to day thing to do.
