So I'm checking Facebook's causes application, and there is so much more money donated to animal cruelty than cancer? Most of the causes I'm in, is because of invitation from friends for the cause awareness, and I accept the invitation if its legit. For example, if someone invite me to join PETA's cause, I would flat out decline. But I joined A.S.P.C.A (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). There was a cause for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Awareness which I joined on my own without anyone inviting me. Any donation would go to Chester County Hospital in PA. There are only 686 people and $85 in donations. I'm not saying people should donate, but what really bothers me is that A.S.P.C.A cause has 59,303 members and total donation of $2,847. On average though, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma causes has higher overall donation per total amount of members, though, average donation does not pass the $25 mark. I donated $25, its not much but it also doesn't kill my wallet, its maybe 2 drinks at a bar. On A.S.P.C.A, there are numerous donation of $100. Once again I think causes against animals cruelty has merit, but I just can't seem to accept that more people rather donate and join more animals causes than human cure research/etc.
My take is biased of course, because I know someone with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma(4). It's unfair that someone only 28 years old should face something like this. I know if sounds evil, but I rather have funds diverted to tackle issues like that first, before helping the animals.
