A never ending debate.
Although there is always animosity between these two, they will never engage in a debate face to face in public to prevent heavy criticism about being intolerant. Each side must restrain themselves and observe their current stereotype as wise and calm people from the far east. Abiding to this stereotype is key on achieving acceptance amongst their western counterparts, which is their hidden desire.
Myself, well I'm blunt, as told by some friends. I like to crack controversially racial jokes, and smack at the notion of being politically correct.
I have a Japanese friend that I talk from time to time, and our conversation can get heated, at least for unsuspecting 3rd party observer/friend. Since we are both against being "pc", we launch on tirade of non pc stuff against each other.
Subjugation:
Her: We raped your women!
Me: Well but presently, we are raping your culture through trashy k-pop taking over j-pop!
Achievement:
Her: Japan is the 2nd largest economy.
Me: *I shut fuck up here*
Racism:
Her: Most intelligent and civilized are Japanese, then Korean, then Chinese
Me: No, it's Korean, then Japanese, and then Chinese.
Agreement:
Me and her: Ok Chinese are the 3rd.
Sarcasm:
Her: Japanese guys are slender and good looking.
Me: And they don't believe in orthodontics.
Disturbance:
Her: Me and my friends are going to Asian film festival, they will have UN type movies, such as kamikaze, comfort women, Tibet, etc..
Me:I'll show up and thank you and your friends personally for acknowledging the comfort women issue. I know your history books omit this.
Betrayal:
Her: I like k-pop.
Me: I like the used panties vending machines from Japan.
Controversy:
Her: Japan ended the Korean Imperial lineage.
Me: There is Korean blood mixed with the Japanese Imperial Family, your Emperor admitted to it.
Although we talk like that from time to time, we are basically similar to many extent.
We both prefer "western" partners. We are both stereotypically in Asian field of work; economics and computers. We pretend to be experts in Asian culture. Most of our friends are white.
All this might sound bad, but we don't take it seriously and we say in jest, often times to cause shock amongst 3rd party observers because its norm to believe that there are resentments between Japanese and Koreans.

Is that why you use the word "jap" too? Just because you want to shock others? Just because you don't want to be PC?
I personally hate it.
not really, i use jap, as a abbreviation of japan/japanese.
