So Dana got married and a lot of men shed tears that day. Some men shed tears of joy, other hopefuls shed tears of sadness.
It was a small wedding with friends and family. It was very nice on a hill by the coast of Big Island of Hawaii. The inifinity pool and the sunset added to a perfect wedding.
It was a bit emotional as Luis cried a bit when reading the vows. For guys, its somewhat easier to see women cry, because we are used to it, but when we see a man cry, it seems that, that man was stripped down of everything and the only thing left was coming from his heart.
Once it was done, there wasn't much to think about, it was joy at all times. Here we were celebrating the union of our best friends, and for this day only, all the worries were set aside so we could all enjoy what they were feeling that day.
Dana and Luis jumped into the infinity pool still dressed up. At first I was thinking how she would regret having jumped in with her gown, but then it became apparent to me that they don't care! Why should they care? It's the happiest day of their lives, they will do whatever they want, its their day. It's this one day they are allowed to do whatever they want to do.
There were no uncomfortable chats or silences with the other guests, everyone was there to truly share the joy of the union between Luis and Dana. People were laughing, dancing, joking around. I even got slapped on my face, but on a friendly drunken way. No one cared, and I definitely didn't care. I was too happy to misconstrue actions in the wrong way.
We have experienced friends getting married before, but I guess we will never experience this until it is our turn to do so. It must be a life altering experience. To be bound to your love, your best friend. It comes with so many joys and questions that it would make it an adventure that they will journey together. At times, a test to them, but joy at most turns.
Since there are no words to really describe my wishes to them, I guess a simple "Congratulations, Luis and Dana!" will suffice, with the knowledge that they will know it actually means more...
