The new boss has bee really cool about everything. After our previous boss left, things started to crumble. Everyone started to get lazy and accumulate work. So a new boss gets in, and we are still swamped. A new boss can establish authority right away by being a total dick, but this doesn’t fare to well on the long run. Other option is to earn subordinates respect, however on this transitional period, things doesn’t get done.
He chose the latter, and I respect that. Though I feel sorry as some of my co-worker became really lazy and without an establish authority sometimes defies orders from the boss. The most common excuse is that, “it’s not my responsibility to do this or that…”. I find that extremely hilarious as its not like he is top paid employee on a very specific field. Even doing paperwork, its still mostly manual labor. It not like his “skills” are being wasted doing something else, because, really, there are no real skills involved… That is plain lazyness no matter how he tries to cover it. Guess what if he doesn’t dot he work assigned to him, some one will have to do it. And guess who ends up doing? Me, why? Because he doesn’t appreciate that the boss could just take a “I’m a dick” stance, however he is trying to be nice to everyone. I want to maintain that kind of relationship with our boss. But eventually, I think he will flip. Some co-workers are selfish, lazy and very narrow minded. Most importantly, they don’t even realize they are. They think they are the best thing since sliced bread. There are a couple ones them on review by the new boss, and he even once asked me if I knew someone to replace person A.
I feel somewhat sorry for the new boss, because while without a boss, the department somewhat sank heavy, and he inherited that. I’m doing extra work to help him out, because some co-worker are cutting short their own work.
Granted, I’m also lazy, and even though I slack at work, by the end of the day my work is done, and some more. Don’t slack if you can’t do your share for the day.
Everyone knows that I’m target for upper management hostility because of me dressing all casual, and always being late for work, but why don’t they fire me? Because I do my work well, and I get things DONE. While on the other hand, some are lazy and doesn’t get their own work done.
Anyways, I’m going to hit gym and head to work.
Btw, Google release Google Talk, and Blogger for Microsoft Word.
Behave kids.
