I know for a fact none of you actually follow any of Nasa or JPL, or ESA projects, but I do. Call me geek if you want, but I do find these kind of stuff interesting, specially now that they are really probing other planets. I followed both Mars Rovers missions and now the
Cassini-Huygens probe to Titan. A Saturn's largest moon believed to contain hydrocarbon and oceans. The Huygens probe after delay entered the Titan's atmosphere on January 14th, but the pictures take a while to get here on Earth. Anyways, they got some of the pictures and SOUND available now. These are interesting times!

Composite picture of Titan's surface seen during Huygens probe descent.

First color view of Titan's surface. The "rocks" are believed to be ice pebbles.

I think a lot of people are now so desensitized by what they see in films that they become disappointed with the reality of space exploration.
In seeing planets Mars and Venus revealed in photography as well as the recent Titan images, it becomes apparent that planetary geography is much the same wherever you go in the solar system.
And by and large, the other mechanisms are identical, only varying through either size, scale or longevity.
So no, if you're looking for a picture of planet looking like a Yes! album cover, you're always going to be let down, but for the likes of you and me, the amazement is always there.
Be seeing you...
are you kidding?? This is top news! But I agree with that guy, poeple just don't hold space as an incredible wonder anymore. It is so sad. I think that was the one positive thing about the cold war, was that it made the ENTIRE NATION captivated by the exploration of space. Not saying we should get into another war to get people all competitive again, but it was a postive aspect . . .
